Life has not always been easy on Caroline, and we cannot help ourselves comparing her journey to the Championship Gold-medal with the situation that we are all in right now due to the current financial recession.

The way towards our goals – be it personal or professional goals – is not always entirely without challenges. And precisely the overcoming of these challenges is what makes reaching our goals even more fulfilling – helping us grow as individuals and makes us appreciate what we have even more.

We can chose to use what happens to us in life as an excuse for what we (don’t) do and are (not).

– Or we can chose to use them as a means to grow and develop ourselves and become even better.

Are we what we are, and do we do the things we do – in spite of or because of what has happened to us?  Our sponsor-rider Caroline has chosen to believe that everything that happens to us has a positive influence on our development and future opportunities. 

Caroline is training and planning with on fundamental vision in mind:  If you can dream it – you can do it!

As Caroline’s national coach said during the walk-through of the huge and extremely difficult cross-country course at the Nordic-Baltic Championships:

“I know that you are probably very nervous, insecure and perhaps even a little bit scared of this course – however, the best way to solve this task is to ride POSITIVELY and make sure to ATTACK every single fence on your way as if your life depended on it!”

And he finished up by saying:

“You need to be ambitious in order to succeed at this high level of competition. And just remember, that there is an essential difference between being less satisfied with your performance and being downright dissatisfied. When you are ‘less satisfied’ you can still look positively for development opportunities for your next competition. But if you are dissatisfied, you’re merely focusing on the negative aspects of your performance thereby shutting down your ability to find all the good things that you need to develop even further to improve your performance.

We here at Scan-Trans see a great deal of wisdom in these words – we believe that it is fundamentally important – especially in times such as these - that we all maintain a positive outlook and try to focus on the OPPORTUNITUES rather than the LIMITATIONS whenever possible!
