Scan-Trans is pleased to announce that heavy lift operator BigLift Shipping, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, has appointed Scan-Trans Beijing as commercial representative for the PRC.
BigLift is currently operating a fleet of 9 heavy lift vessels with a lifting capacity of 500 to 1.400 mt.
In 2010-2011, seven newbuildings will be added to the fleet:
- 5 vessels with two 400 mt and one 120 mt cranes with a combined lifting capacity of 800 mt are built at the Ouhua yard in China a with delivery in the second half of 2010
- A further 2 vessels with two 900 mt cranes and a total lifting capacity of 1.800 mt are built at the Hazira yard in India with delivery early 2011.
Over the past years, BigLift has been active in China in various heavy lift transports of import as well as export cargoes. Acknowledging the ever growing importance and potential of the Chinese market with regard to sea transportation of project cargoes and heavy lifts, BigLift wishes to strengthen their commercial representation in China.
